When are your try-outs?

Tryouts for the 2018 travel volleyball season are during the last two weeks of July. They are as follows: Wednesday, July 19 - Thursday July 20 - Tuesday, July 25 - Wednesday, July 26.  The TIMES for all tryouts are the same: 6:30 – 8:00pm for U12-U15 and 8:15 – 9:45pm for U16-U18.  If you are going to have issues with attending these days, be sure to email us and let us know. We will try and give you a private tryout. outbreakvbc@gmail.com

What is the cost?

Our estimated cost for the U12 Black and U13 Black teams will be $1850.00.  The estimated cost for our U14-U18 Black teams will be $2100.00.  We have a payment plan that allows for families to make monthly payments for 10 months. We do offer a discount if payment for the whole season is made in-full at the contract signing.

The fees cover all practice fees, tournament entry fees, coaches pay, travel expenses for coaches (tournaments), equipment (balls, nets, practice equipment), and admin fees (website, insurance, accounting, club administration, office supplies, etc.)

Other Expenses?

We do require each player to purchase an Outbreak Gear uniform package which we strive to keep under $300.00.  We have 3 jerseys (with one being a dig pink jersey), two pairs of Spandex, a backpack, two practice tee shirts.  We will have samples at tryouts.

When a player makes a team, they will be required to join USAV and AAU this season - $50 and $14 respectively (these organizations may change their membership fees – we can’t control that).

Another expense parents need to know about is hotel stays. All of our teams will have overnight tournaments which will require staying at a hotel. At Outbreak, we allow our players to stay with their parents, but we do require everyone stays in the same hotel.  So for those weekends, parents need to plan for hotel and food expenses.

If a team is exceptional and the team would like to add tournaments, then the entire team will have to agree and work with the director to determine the extra costs required to attend extra tournaments. If a team qualifies for USAV Nationals or decides to attend AAU Nationals, then that team will have to appoint a treasurer and manage the costs for nationals.  Outbreak will help with the logistics, but the majority of the work will be done by the team.

Where do you compete?

Tournaments typically are held in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and Richmond. Overnight tournaments may also be held in Washington, D.C., Roanoke and North Carolina.  The basic tournament schedule is put together by the Director with the coaches. They will generally be as follows:

U12 & U13 teams compete in approx. 5-6 one day tournaments and 2-3 Multi-day tournaments.

U14-U18 teams compete in approx. 5-6 one day tournaments and 4 Multi-day tournaments

One day tournaments: Local to Tidewater and possibly to Richmond, with some coaches going as far as JMU.

Multi-Day tournaments: A possible mixture of Blizzard Blast (Va Beach), Monument City (Richmond), Capitol Hill Classic (D.C.), Shamrock Festival (Raleigh), Atlantic Coast Grand Prix (Va Beach), Beach Fest (Ocean City), South Atlantic Championship (Richmond)

What about practice?

U12 – will practice 2 times a week and every third week they will have 3 practices.

U13-U18 will practice 3 times a week.  If a team is playing on a weekend then they will likely only have 2 practices that week.

This season, Outbreak will utilize gym space at the Cape Henry Collegiate, Calvary Assembly of God and Kempsville HS.  We are working on securing other locations for practice with the focus on finding a facility that can house all our clubs practices.
